We woke up to big news today in the scroll saw industry, Mike Moorlach, owner of mikesworkshop.com and supplier of Flying Dutchman scroll saw blades announced Sunday that he has sold his business, as of March 8, 2015, to The Wooden Teddy Bear, a scroll saw pattern and supplies retailer. I confirmed this news with a phone call to The Wooden Teddy Bear this morning.
For many years Mike has been the go to guy for Flying Dutchman Scroll Saw Blades, one of the most popular brands of scroll saw blades available to today's scroll saw enthusiast.
Mike has developed a reputation for providing a good product combined with superior service and superior knowledge. By doing so he single handedly developed the Flying Dutchman brand into the popular brand it is today. Mike is well known throughout the scroll saw community and will surely be missed by his large following of loyal customers.
Congratulations to The management at The Wooden Teddy Bear...
I was recently e-mailed a question from one of my awesome subscribers down under. He is in the market for a scroll saw and wanted my opinion on if the Excalibur would be a good saw to cut approx. 1 1/2" (40mm) thick wood
at a 45 degree angle. Now this is asking alot out of a typical scrollsaw, but being the Excalibur fanatic I am I figured sure, that shouldn't be a problem... then I went into the garage to try it out. You gotta watch the video for the rest of the story!
Have you noticed the newsletter box? Yes it is new, I am going to start putting togeteher a newsletter at least a few times a year, more if it gets a good response. So if you would like to recieve the newsletter, well obviously you will need to sign up. Don't worry I am the only one that will use your email, I'm not going to sell it to anyone. I hate it when people do that to me, so I'm not going to do it to anyone else.
The more people that sign up for the newsletter will inspire me to do more with it. so lets get busy and sign up!
Since I've been building and working on this website, I've felt stupid many times, so I figured this might be an appropriate plaque for this months free pattern. But no worries, I am getting my problems fixed, just not very fast! I really wish I knew something about building websites! Click here to get your Free Pattern
I hope everyone has a wonderful and relaxing time this 4th of July weekend. It's alway great when the 4th lands on a Friday, we all just love those long week ends.
I just returned from the local vegetable stand where I grabbed a couple watermelons and some corn for the BBQ tomorrow. There is nothing like grilled corn to go with the other bbq staples like burgers dog's and chicken. (For those of you that are familiar with Ruby, don't worry she's not the chicken thats on the menu.)
I'm very much looking forward to watching the kids run around eating watermellon and getting sprayed with water on the trampoline, while the smell of smoked chicken and burgers wafts the neighborhood in anticipaticition of an evening of celebration. The fireworks are all ready to go and I'm thankful to be able to call myself an American for another year.
